Ruebel Hotel Updates its Restaurant Design

Albeit its modern décor, Ruebel Hotel is rich with history that dates back to 1884 when it was first built. Founded by Michael Reubel in which the establishment was named for, this hotel was the largest hotel in Jersey County at that time with 32 rooms and a bath house in the back. Ruebel mostly played host to river travelers and steamboat operators. Situated in Grafton Illinois, a town founded in 1832 by James Mason that boasts of a handful of haunted sites, Ruebel Hotel has been reported as having the most paranormal activities.  In spite of it all, the hotel thrived until 1912 when it was damaged by the infamous Great Chicago Fire. Ruebel was repaired shortly afterwards and even added a restaurant and a dance hall. Unfortunately, business began to wither after having lived through the Great Depression and two World Wars. By the 1980’s the hotel has become derelict with its heyday nothing more than a faded memory. But 1996 came to the rescue when the hotel was purchased by the Jeff Lorton family. In 1997, the place was renovated and business resumed.

The hotel fell under new management in 2008 updating the décor to modern standards with emerald plus pillow top mattresses, 29” flat screen televisions; free Wifi, and full satellite service. The Reubel Hotel even has a bar that’s worth checking out. Despite the speculation of the hotel being haunted, you can still enjoy your stay with great service, excellent food and a variety of wines, beers and cocktails at the restaurant. The hotel’s restaurant provides an upbeat atmosphere from fine red wine to a cold glass of Budweiser. It is no wonder it is a favorite spot for drinks in Grafton! Need a to-go place for good food, drinks, and entertainment in the heart of Charleston’s historic district at the French Quarter? Mac’s Place is not what you would expect from a typical Irish pub. With over 50 beers on the tap in a bottle or can along with flat screen televisions, you can find what you are looking for. If you are a Chicago Cubs fan, you will feel right at home at this pub.  Mac’s Place invites you to join them for Happy Hour between 4pm to 8pm Monday through Friday.

The menu features a traditional Irish bar food. The Irish nachos are a favorite among most diners – made of fried scalloped potatoes topped with melted cheese, tomatoes, bacon ranch dressing with an option of grilled chicken or ground beef. There is also open faced brisket and fish and chips. Sweet potato tots and mac & cheese bites are also crowd pleasers. The beer selection of imports and crafts is well curated and served ice cold.

Mac’s Place has been buzzing since its grand opening back in 2011. Particularly known for its sports events, this Chicago style bar also hosts concerts and sitcoms. Because this venue is packed, especially at night, the seating became sparse. The owners purchased several sets of Premium Solid Wood Plank Table Tops.  These table tops are made of high compact wood with a variation of finishes, sizes and edges. The seven stage process not only preserves the finish but also protects damages from water and scratches and therefore ideal for high traffic bars and pubs such as Mac’s Place.  The X Prong Table Bases  were a popular choice for additional support. Exclusively made for commercial use, these cast iron table bases feature a powder coated finish and include all the hardware to assemble your table.

They furnished their dining room with Ladder Back Wood Chairs  and matching bar stools for their bar area.  Tested for strength and certified by BIFMA, these seating boasts of premium construction and skilled craftsmanship and design.  Customers can choose from 5 standard finishes to customize these items. Custom finishes are available at an additional fee. Seating options include a choice for a solid wood seat or and upholstered padded seat. Nylon gliders are attached to ensure floor protection.
